Porcelain veneers are hand-made, high-quality porcelain shells bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. Veneers can close gaps, erase permanent stains, repair chipped or broken teeth, and are often thought of as instant orthodontics because they can instantly straighten crooked teeth. Porcelain veneers look natural because they reflect light similarly to tooth enamel. In addition, porcelain is a durable, glass-like ceramic, so it is extremely stain resistant. You’ll never need to have veneers whitened.
In most cases, Dr. Azari can design and place veneers in two dental appointments. During your consultation, she will assess the symmetry of your smile and facial features, as well as pictures of smiles you find attractive. Once she determines the right shape and color for your unique smile, she’ll prepare your teeth by lightly buffing and shaping their surface. Then she’ll create a mold (impression) of your teeth to send to our dental laboratory. There, an experienced dental ceramist will hand-make your veneers for a perfect look and fit.
During your second visit, one to two weeks after your initial appointment, Dr. Azari will remove the temporary veneers and bond the permanent veneers to your teeth. A special light permanently hardens (cures) the bond. Dr. Askari will explain how you should care for your new veneers, which is quite simple: proper brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits every six months.
