Each of your six-month checkups will include a thorough cleaning. Dr. Askari will also perform an examination of your teeth and gums to make sure everything looks healthy and no red flags have risen up since your last visit. For this reason, our Comfort Dental Spa team, led by Dr. Askari, often provides Perio Protect as a non-invasive, effective, and relatively comfortable therapy for periodontal disease.
What is Perio Protect?
Perio Protect is a gum disease treatment that can be customized specifically for you and each individual patient in need. The purpose of treating gum disease is not to cure it (this has not been made possible yet) but to manage the population of bacteria that tend to grow in the spaces or periodontal pockets that develop between teeth and gum tissue once periodontitis (severe gum disease) sets in. With the use of a custom-fitted mouthguard (per tray), your treatment only requires a few minutes each day. Perio Protect has been described as a comfortable, easy, and fast way to fight periodontal disease and stop germs in their tracks.
