Comfort Dental Spa Patient Testimonial: Gingivectomy and Six Month Smiles

Gingivectomy and Six Month Smiles Testimonial

Rasheda Kamaria is another one of our wonderful Comfort Dental Spa patients. She has been seeing us for a year and a half, and has been thrilled with the confidence her new smile has given her. As someone with a career in the media, Rasheda was concerned about her public speaking engagements when she was dealing with crooked teeth and gums that were uneven as a result of periodontal disease. Farmington Hills dentist, Dr. Aziza Askari, will tell you more about the two procedures that Rasheda has been so happy with: a gingivectomy and Six Month Smiles braces.

Gingivectomy

When gum disease becomes advanced, you may require a variety of treatments to get the infection under control. Periodontal disease that does not respond to antibiotics or root planing and scaling might require surgical treatment. The purpose of a gingivectomy is to remove and reshape diseased gum tissue that has become loose, forming pockets between the teeth and gums. These periodontal pockets are breeding grounds for further infection, and the look of loosely seated gum tissues can be cosmetically disconcerting. Local anesthetic and lasers make this procedure simple, quick, and comfortable. Usually, sutures won’t even be necessary. Putty is placed over your gum line, post-surgery, to protect the gingival tissues while they heal. In no time, you will have a tight and uniform frame to your gorgeous smile, just like Rasheda.

Six Month Smiles

Six Month Smiles can boast many advantages over more traditional orthodontic treatments. Focusing on your front teeth that are visible when you smile, these braces require an average half year of treatment time – much shorter than the average braces (even Invisalign).  The brackets and wires of Six Month Smiles are made from a combination of clear and tooth-colored materials. This makes your experience with orthodontics comfortable if you are embarrassed about flashing a mouth full of metal when you smile.
